Northern Tour “The Far North of Ghana – Baobabs and Ancient Farming Art”
The ” Upper East,” one of Ghana’s northern regions, lies far from major cities and highways. Here, the world moves at a more leisurely pace than in the south. Traditional farming and pastoral cultures, ancient Hausa trade routes, and a tolerant African Islam shape life; modern developments are still barely noticeable.
From August to October, the savannah-like area reveals itself as a magical green parkland. Herds of humped cattle migrate slowly through, followed by herding children on bareback donkeys; ancient, giant baobab trees shade small farmsteads, which, with their curved walls and intricate murals, resemble works of art by Hundertwasser.
Our Ghanaian guide, Gabriel, is originally from this region. With him, you’ll discover the unique beauty of his homeland and the relaxed friendliness of its people.

Travel to the northern border regions near Côte d’Ivoire is not recommended.
Terrorism
There is increased concern, particularly in the north (Northern Region, North-East, Savannah Region, Upper West and Upper East), that terrorist or criminal groups from neighboring Burkina Faso may also operate in Ghana.

- Please exercise caution, especially in busy places and at special events.
