Embark on a four-day (three-night) journey to Kumasi and its surrounding areas, immersing yourself in the rich history of the Ashanti Kingdom and traditional religion. Highlights include:

  • Visiting sites of historical significance in Kumasi.
  • Exploring the vast central market, a vibrant hub of trade and culture.
  • A trip to Bonwire, renowned for its exquisite traditional handicrafts.
  • A tranquil stay by the picturesque Bosomtwi Crater Lake, where our accommodation is directly by the lakeside.

Week 2: Coastal Adventure & Rainforest Experience

Enjoy a five-day excursion along Ghana’s scenic west coast, with breathtaking landscapes and cultural discoveries:

  • Visit Elmina, a charming fishing town home to the historic Portuguese slave trade castle.
  • Overnight in the well-secured treehouse at Kakum Rainforest National Park (or alternatively, in a picturesque hotel).
  • Experience an exhilarating canopy walk across suspension bridges high above the rainforest, followed by a guided nature hike.
  • Travel to Takoradi and further west, passing vast coconut and rubber plantations, with an overnight stay at a stunning hotel near Axim.
  • Take a paddle canoe trip to Nzulezo, a unique village built on stilts. Depending on the schedule, this may be a day trip or include an overnight stay in a traditional stilt house.
  • Conclude the journey with a relaxing stay at a beach resort in Ampenyi, near Elmina, and an optional visit to Cape Coast Castle’s museum and craft market.

Cultural Experiences & Special Activities

  • A live performance by a professional drumming and dance ensemble.
  • A celebratory gathering with friends and staff from the KASAPA project.
  • Optional day trip to Accra.
  • A guided walk through Nyanyano to engage with the local community.

Week 3: Immersion in Rural Ghana

Travel to Mesomagor, a remote cocoa-farming village about 90 minutes north of Cape Coast, for a two-night stay. Here, you will:

  • Discover traditional production methods of palm nuts, cassava, and cocoa.
  • Sample fresh palm wine and connect with the villagers.
  • Enjoy cultural performances by a bamboo drumming orchestra and a talented local dance troupe.
  • Experience the lively tradition of evening storytelling—village life at its finest!

From the KASAPA Centre, you can also take shorter trips to nearby areas, such as the canoe harbor of Nyanyano, local markets, or Accra.
