Dr. Susanne Stemann-Acheampong is a theologian and psychologist with extensive experience in social science research. Her academic background has greatly influenced her approach to cultural tourism, particularly in understanding the deep connections between traditional African performing arts and community well-being.
Her passion for traditional African drumming and dancing became a driving force in her work within inter-cultural tourism. In 1981, she co-organized one of the first holiday workshops in Kokrobite, Accra, alongside the legendary Ghanaian master drummer Mustapha Tettey Addy. These early initiatives laid the foundation for a thriving cultural exchange platform, attracting international visitors eager to engage with Ghana’s rich artistic heritage.
By the late 1980s, Kofi and Susanne embarked on what would eventually become the KASAPA Centre, a unique tourism project blending sustainability, cultural immersion, and responsible travel. As Managing Director, Susanne, affectionately known as “Madam Director”—has been instrumental in shaping the centre’s vision and operations. In addition to her leadership role, she also serves as the official travel agent for KASAPA Centre, ensuring seamless experiences for guests seeking an authentic and sustainable Ghanaian adventure.
Kofi B. Acheampong brings over 40 years of experience in both building and civil engineering to the project, coupled with a deep passion for music as a bassist. As visionary and catalyst for development, he has played a pivotal role in pioneering projects that integrate sustainable construction and renewable energy solutions. His expertise extends to utilizing eco-friendly materials and innovative building techniques, making him a strong advocate for green architecture.
One of his most notable achievements is the establishment of the Kasapa Centre Eco-Lodge, which houses Ghana’s first large-scale biodegradable wastewater recycling plant. This groundbreaking project exemplifies his commitment to sustainable ecological principles, setting a benchmark for environmentally conscious tourism. Beyond construction, Kofi has made significant contributions to inter-cultural tourism in Ghana, helping to create immersive experiences that celebrate the country’s rich traditions and foster cross-cultural exchange.
