Flying and Climate Protection

Are environmentally conscious people still allowed to fly?

Since “Friday for Future” brought the problem of “climate change and the climate crisis” so emphatically to the public’s attention, the topic of “flying” has also become a difficult issue – especially for contemporaries who do not want to simply push aside their shared responsibility for future developments.

Air travel causes greenhouse gases; it’s therefore a disaster for climate policy. This also applies to vacation flights, of course. Those who care about the environment choose destinations that can be reached without flying. If your vacation dreams can only be realized by booking flights, you have to accept “flight shame.” Flying becomes embarrassing and incorrect.

Flight shame? CO2 offsetting? Or something even better?

Well, at least there are carbon offset programs. Some airlines even advertise that their passengers can participate in reforestation projects through voluntary donations. However, they don’t make it clear to customers that the climate protection effect only becomes apparent once the planted trees have grown sufficiently over many years.

The “atmosfair” programs for CO2 compensation are more tangible and efficient:

The greenhouse gases generated during your flight can also be offset by contributing to a climate protection project. For bookings through Ghana-Reisen (see also booking request ), such an offset payment is already included in the travel price and is forwarded to the organization atmosfair . Learn more
